Ghostface Killah 12 Reasons To Die Apollo Brown Raruse
Since the original was so damn perfect, 's remix of the and collaborative effort is certainly unnecessary, and if you want to take the hard line, you could even argue that it's obtrusive. After all, the original is a wild and rare meeting of the minds, where film composer/fly dude meets member/solo favorite for a crafted concept album guided by the '70s Italian murder mystery/slasher film genre known as giallo, but like the great works of art that came before it, that comic-book-on-wax still stands up to some inspired stretching.

Like messing with the Mona Lisa, or 's going with the help of, Detroit producer offers some alternate-universe excellence with this funkier and dirtier version of the original, dropping 's giallo motif for something that's still '70s, but more and soulful. R&B horns light the blaze on 'I Declare War' while 'Rise of the Black Suits' slides into the scene with the most downtown and jazzy set of guitar riffs. Banging beats and tightly cut loops make 'Murder Spree' easy to shoehorn into any modern mixtape when the original would have seemed obtuse, but as much as shrugs off the usual genre rules, 's inspired rhymes and storytelling still hold the album together. Even if it's messing about with a classic, it's loving messing about, and maybe even humble, as this ' was originally released as a cassette-only curio sold exclusively on Record Store Day.
Excellent word of mouth got it liberated to official release, and while it's all warranted and welcome, make sure to check the original first.

Mello Music Group presents the official re-issue. Narrated by The RZA, this is Ghostface Killah’s brutal tale of gangsters, betrayal and one vengeful soul hunting the 12 most powerful crime lords in the World. The Deluca's pressed Tony's remains into 12 vinyl records - one for each member of the family. But little did they know - he would return. This project is a daring, full-length Crime/Horror concept album. Executive Producer, and Ghostface Killah's longtime Wu-Tang Clan collaborator, The RZA refers to the album as 'groundbreaking' in the hip hop genre. Apollo Brown was asked to record an alternate album at the same time as Adrian Younge created “Twelve Reasons To Die.” Keep in mind, the legendary Detroit producer (Apollo Brown) was given access to Ghostface Killah’s recordings and constructed beats around GFK's work.

This made the project one of the producer's most challenging projects to date. That hard work has paid of as “The Brown Tape” is also one of the best albums to date from Ghostface Killah or Apollo Brown. Cinematic and nasty, this is Hip-hop at it’s most raw.
